Evil Geniuses are back-to-back ESEA Invite champions, following a 3-1 victory against Loaded in the Season 6 Grand Final.
The ESEA Invite Season 6 playoffs took place at the Hella Shrine Center, where Arbalet Cup Dallas will be staged the next three days. Evil Geniuses made their way to the Grand Final with a 2-0 win versus compLexity in the upper-bracket final.
compLexity faced off against Loaded in the Consolidation Final, where the winning team would take on Evil Geniuses in the Grand Final. Surprisingly to many, compLexity failed to overcome Loaded, who won 2-1 and progressed to the Grand Final.
The Grand Final was played in a best-of-five mode, where the first team to reach three map-wins would secure the overall victory. Starting on de_nuke, Evil Geniuses underlined their form by winning 16-1, putting a lot of pressure on the Loaded squad. On second map de_inferno, Loaded started off great with an 11-4 first half, but was put to the ground in the second, seeing Evil Geniuses win 16-13. On the third map de_dust2, Loaded improved their play further and managed to overcome Evil Geniuses with a 16-11 score line. But, fourth map de_train saw all Loaded hopes washed away, as Evil Geniuses went on to win 16-4 and 3-1 overall to win the ESEA Invite Season 6 championship.
